The Role:

The Director of New Business’s role is to lead and supervise the new business department to ensure the timely processing of new applications and follow-up requirements. The new business department acts as a liaison between advisors and MassMutual’s new business and underwriting departments for life, disability, long-term care, and annuity applications.

They say the best leaders are those who never sought leadership.

That sentiment rings true for Kate and her journey into her current position at Charter Oak Financial. Graduating with a B.S in Criminal Justice, she began her career in a very different line of business working with incarcerated juveniles. She decided to transfer her most valuable skills, including empathy, attention to detail, and discipline, to MassMutual’s home office in 2006 as a death claim assessor. In 2008, she joined the New Business department. She held a few positions in that department before an opportunity arose for her to take the reins. Kate loves sarcasm, classic rock music, binging Netflix and spending time with her family…sometimes.

She lives in Wilbraham, MA with her husband Adam, daughter Izzie and their two rescue pups, Archie and Ollie.
